  • How many women are incarcerated for owing Child Support?

... any? Re: The recent US death-by-cop-case. Do women get better treatment?

since a woman has a better chance of being struck by a meteor than ordered to even pay child support in the first place I'm going to guess it's a number somewhere below zero.

I didn't find any information on incarceration, but found this:

      http://fivethirtyeight.com/features/...child-support/

A sicking read. Not from the stats, rather from the author's slant against men.

      And this:

      http://www.nydailynews.com/news/nati...icle-1.1709533

A "deadbeat Mom" made "most wanted".

      Ok found something:

      http://pjmedia.com/drhelen/2013/03/1...ar-violations/

‘…women who fail to pay all of their child support are incarcerated only one-eighth as often as men with similar violations.’

        Too funny.

Add a defiant system, bias against Dads, and I think they would figure a way to make him pay.

Seems there is only responsibility for us, no empathy as always.

            Wonderful, thanks for the digging.
This is a candidate both for a major article as well as for a political effort.
Seems there are a lot of skeletons in the closet marked Title IV - are there lawyers to dig throught his thing?

I have to disagree on the "sickening ... slant against men", though; I found both the tone and the content as neutral as you could expect, given the hazardous topic. There is of course the "don't you worry about dads" angle that reduces the indignation at these particular facts by holding it up to the (unrelated, as to the question itself, but still relevant) facts that single dads are doing financially better than single moms (this is "comforting" , the opposite technique of sensationalization - the wise man readeth and learneth), but even this underhandedly promotes single dads: they are less likely to hound an ex with court orders, and more likely to allow kids to spend time with mom, i.e. less conflict prone. And dads do better because men are great :-)

Come to think of it, we will probably have to wait a while before seeing a deadbeat mom killed with five shots in the back for owing child support.
