  • What can we do about masculinity in crisis?

For some obscure reason The Irish Time decided to dedicate some line to us... If anything just to misrepresent MRAs and then talk trash them.

    http://www.irishtimes.com/life-and-s...isis-1.2711191

They say that the devil’s greatest trick is convincing the world he didn’t exist. But I know of one better: the trick played by the patriarchy, which convinces some men that equality for men and women – feminism, essentially – isn’t possible. There is a small, vocal faction of men who appear to believe that if feminism advances, it will spell doom for men. How the central tenet – that feminism will in fact benefit everyone in society – got lost in translation is anyone’s guess. Yet here we are.
Yeah a small and ridicule faction... I guess?

Depending on where you look, the cold war between the sexes has erupted into a weapons-grade conflict. Women voice their dissent at the patriarchal system on Twitter using hashtags such as #yesallwomen (created partly in response to #notallmen).
We know this is some serious journalism right here when they have to report on the tweeter hash tags wars...

How has it come to pass? Is it that some men appear to take naysaying against the patriarchal system personally? Is it that they are genuinely fearful of losing their place of “supremacy” in society? Is that most masculine of traits – power – what’s driving all of this?
I would say me and, most men around here have not problem with equality.

Either way, there’s no escaping the fact that masculinity is at crisis point. Men have genuinely been hurt by the traditional gender system and by highly delineated roles. They have felt pressure to be aggressive and competitive; they, too, have felt the vile pinprick of body insecurities. There are so few men, in truth, who truly benefit from “white male privilege”.
No so much really, men are being hurt by a feminist system that cry "oppression" while ataking men at every opportunity. It is almost as if they believe that the only way to empower women is by emasculating men.

Yet for the first time in a while, numbers of feminists, both male and female, are swelling.
I agree with any statement that refers to feminism in terms of a medical ills.

It is no longer possible to dismiss someone with gendered terms such as “bitch”, “slut” or “whore” without some kind of kickback. On the other hand, terms used to denigrate men – “mansplaining”, “manspreading”, “manbaby” – are gaining traction.
I would like to joke about this, but this is serious, there is men goign to jail for manspreading and even less than that.

Admittedly, my sympathy for Team #notallmen is limited; I don’t tend to ration out reassurances to white straight men who get testy at talk of rape consent classes, female objectification and fat-shaming, and ponder how it reflects on, and affects, them. Still, some Facebook huffing is infinitely preferable to the other maladaptive reactions.
No anymore, Facebook now considers that criticizing feminism is against their community terms and they will ban and delete any account used for this.

In the ongoing kerfuffle, some feminists aren’t entirely without sin, either: think of the collective guffaw heard when Ed Miliband wore a “This is what a feminist looks like” T-shirt (one headline: “Men wearing feminist T-shirts insult women”).
This here refer to the usual question if men can be feminist or not, so a guy claimed he is and got a bad rap for it:
    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/ar...ISSA-KITE.html

Certainly, some women believe that some men simply can’t be feminists, having been the “lucky” beneficiaries of male privilege for so long. Little wonder that men looking for a foothold in this new world order seem so at sea. Ostensibly, the Men’s Rights Association exists to work solely for men’s rights in the face of growing feminism (some consider this something of a laughable term, given the stranglehold of patriarchy), yet the term has become a byword for naked, toxic misogyny.
Remember guys, wanting to be the father of your child is nothing more than naked toxic misogyny.

One popular Men’s Rights Association site, avoiceformen.com, is on a mission to “expose misandry in our culture” and “denounce the institution of marriage as unsafe and unsuitable for modern men” as well as “promote an end to chivalry in any form or fashion” and “educate men and boys about the threats they face in feminist governance”. They also want an “end to rape hysteria”, and promote “civil disobedience”. No wonder things have become problematic.
And there it is.... Feminism considers this website "problematic"... I say lest do a big medal logo to put on the front page, stating that we are officially problematic.

Is misandry a thing? The jury is out. In some pockets of the internet – safe spaces for women, mainly – misandry is rife, a bonding mechanism between members. Many of these women would doubtless defend this as a nonissue; that their use of “manbaby” isn’t as weighted with toxic malignancy as the misogyny they have had to shoulder. But surely two wrongs don’t make a right?
    Is that a rhetorical question?

Thousands of years of history have led us all to define masculinity: dominance, power, authority. But this has hurt all of us and continues to hurt. The battle has become Byzantine: certainly, too complicated to flesh out fully in one column.
Byzantine battle??? someone on Ireland is fan of Age Of Empires.

And given that we’re at a loss as to how to redefine what it means to be a real man, the end to this masculinity crisis can’t come quickly enough. Perhaps they, too, need allies. In the war between those looking for supremacy and those looking for societal equality, we need to kick the damaging stuff into touch. Any feminist – male or female – knows this all too well.
Redefine what it means to be a real man?

But that is easy, feminism have done this already... like 50 years ago, here just 5 things a "redefined man" does:

A real man have not problem wearing woman clothes.
A real man cry, the more he cries the more masculine he is... except the manbaby, we bate on their tears.
A real man shut up and listens.
A real man experiment with his sexuality. Meaning gay sex.
A real man does not compete, does not have ambitions, does not have goals... Those are toxic.

See? redefining masculinity is not difficult. The problem is that "redefined masculinity" is not real masculinity... the same way than "empowerment" is not real power.

Anyway, they let the comment section open... lest see how long that last.

I am NOT a Feminist. I will NEVER be a FEMINIST. I believe in ACTUAL EQUALITY.

I cannot believe the hypocritical tone of that author. She complains about a thing-- and then turns right around in the SAME FUCKING BREATH and does it herself.

SHE IS THE PROBLEM SHE IS COMPLAINING ABOUT.

There is no way on God's green earth that she can't understand that. She is PURPOSELY working an agenda to LIMIT Men's Rights and actively seeks to DISCREDIT MEN and their quest for EQUALITY who are causing problems for HER FEMINIST JUGGERNAUT.

FEMINISM IS A **HATE GROUP** and if you EVER WANTED PROOF-- there it is, in BLACK AND WHITE.
FEMINISM is a HATE GROUP - Feminists are HATEFUL PEOPLE
It's time to call it out for what it is.

        A bit of History.

Early in the Feminist movement here in Ohio, the Feminist began forming "CR" groups and managing them with meetings when people had a little bit of time to attend and listen to a short presentation. This was done on campuses with "brown bag lunches". People brought their lunch to school that day when a speaker arrived to speak for around 15 minutes and then pass out printed info and do a brief Q&A. During her presentation those in attendance ate their sandwiches etc and by the time the presentation was over there were some questions and answers. These were thought to be quite effective and could be built on for a monthly meeting in the later afternoons on Friday's.

These "CR" meetings (called Consciousness Raising meetings) were to bring about awareness of areas of weakness where
women suffered from them. This was the stage where the operative Feminist would make policy to be acted on. Once weaknesses were identified, legal policies would be considered to be imposed or those in existence would be amended or
        modified.

Feminist had a great run with this, but what they didn't consider was the possibility that in time Of course this was in the 70's and there was no internet as we have today. (which may have been a good thing having people together face to face) Today there are websites with Message Boards addressing masculinity. ("The Art of Manliness" site comes to mind as with AVFM)

As for the Newspaper misrepresenting MRA's and trahing them, they may have been hoping it would have the opposite effect. To fan the flames on the MRA and help it to grow with this "back handed" treatment of the subject. MRA's in Ireland should begin to rally and raise consciousness among young men concerning what it is to be a just and upright man.
So often boys raised by single mom's will always be needy of women and never understand manhood and only see Movie
portrayals of "Macho Men" such as John Wayne, Bogart, Lee Marvin, and other bad boy types who themselves aren't the best of examples of real manhood. Women can play bad boys or nice guys from the middle and win most of the time.

There may be some merit to the methods women used with their CR groups as it could apply to men and manliness and restoring some concept of it is or could be for young Guys to pursue. If it's good for the goose, it should be good for the gander. It could be a game changer for Feminist though. Probably the main reason men have been so walked on by
Feminist is that men haven't recognized what was going on and that item of Chivalry, "Men don't fight Women" has held
men back and led to their demise for 4 or 5 decades now.

            Another good one; thx.
You have to admire the nerve ... dishonest rhetoric appears more and more like striving for a conscious, voluntary Dunning-Krueger Effect.

seems to be another good one .... note the various fine-sounding titles of all the female speakers ... the new expert class ... "educate about" as a code speak for "indoctrinate" ... and the wet dream of manipulating women everywhere: "While they might squirm, secretely they will be grateful ...."
It's a whole new genre out there.

            Only one thing:

History was around before computer games.
