    MRAs;

Please think carefully and make an informed choice about if you want to actually fund this particular enterprise.

One more for the road? (sorry I just couldn't resist )

    Yours truly,

    A (former) Mad Max fan.

Well I read the article and it's just hilarious at how George Miller treated Eve as a goddess. All the questions she was asked she wouldn't have a flipping clue since she never lived through the experiences. Yeah, going to skip this one. Mad Max is now dead to me.

I wasn't going to watch it for basic artistic reasons, all movie franchises get worse with each additional money maker, er I mean episode.

Star Trek II and The Godfather II being exceptions. Then they went downhill with III; mercifully there was no Godfather IV.

MM I & MM II were greaat, but they pretty much exhausted the concept. Beyond Thunderdome was laughably lame.

If the trailers weren't enough, this article on how it turned into a Feminazi screed seals the deal. As with Hobbit III, I won't even bother putting it on my list at the local library to get the free DVD in 6 months when I work my way to the top of the list.

The rule for Star Trek movies is skip the odd numbered ones. Although the new franchise might reverse that. Star Trek 2 would have been about 10x better had they made up a new villain instead of trying to force a square Khan into a round plot hole.

          Hi,

          well ....
Accepted for a given that the story portrays experiences of raped women (there are women who are raped, AFAIK),
like the Comfort Women, or in Ex-Yugoslavia, why not tell them?
Raping a woman is often enough the cue for a movie White Knight to slaughter the Bad Guy, why not let women do it themselves?
The realism of Women fighters is questionable? If you think so, pls post a picture of yourself in front of the poster
with the Monster Mask Man wreaking havoc in the Australian Outback in a future with a broken down society,
captioned "I cannot condone the lack of realism in this movie".
Or just repeat after me: "Oh, what the heck, it's a movie, it's escapism. Whatever."

To me it depends on how all this is related to the men in the story. If the bad stuff is #YesAllMen patriarchy shit, that's a no-no.
If they turn MMax into some simpering emotional wreck only salvageable by women, like they did with James Bond in "Casino Royale", that's a no-no.
I could probably list more stuff if I had seen the movie (in all probability I would list more then ...), so I look forward to read someone who has actually seen it.

Ensler's kred is a separate issue; I wouldn't want to swap it for my gold watch, I think.

          M

And that question wasn’t bogged down by romance.

Wasn’t that brilliant? He could have easily paired Charlize and Tom. But it was like, we’re not going to make this about a woman gives up her power and falls in love with a guy. They’re going to fight side by side, and the woman will save the man one moment and he’ll save her the next.
Well, that sums up the feminist thinking pretty clearly huh, having a relationship with a member of the opposite sex is "giving up your power".

The entire plot is gynocentric to the extreme. Five wives of the bad guy escape with the help of Theron's character. Max has to help them escape from the bad guy. The movie shows how disposable males are while women are a scarce resource.

Here’s a surprise: Tom Hardy, a.k.a. Mad Max, isn’t the star of Mad Max: Fury Road. Charlize Theron is.
Right there-- I'm out. I thought this movie might be different than all the cashgrab rehash/reboots that Hollywood is puking out, what with getting the original director back and all. But it's like all the others. Bait and switch.

Last year when the new Robocop film came out, I celebrated it's release by watching the original Robocop.

I think we can all do the same thing here.

I don't watch many movies anyway. Hollywood was over run by "progressives" decades ago.

Mel Gibson will always be Mad Max. You have to be batshit crazy to play batshit crazy. lol
It would have been cool to see him in the new movie, acting his real age, if only to pass on the torch.
Fury Road is getting great reviews, so I'll keep an open mind and watch it when it comes out on Netflix.
I don't mind a female having a strong role in a sci-fi action movie, as long as the movie's a blast, like Aliens was,
but to put Mad Max on the backburner and let somebody else be the lead character? I'll reserve judgement until I see it.
                            Stay single and prosper!

I'm so used to being shit on by all the super-Progressive Hollywood directors in movies that I hardly notice anymore unless it's really overt. I was planning on seeing this movie either way, just to numb the mind for a few hours after a long week of work as I've already seen Age of Ultron twice... I'll take one for the team and let you guys know how bad it really is.
